cautleytv (occasionally shortened to cautley) is the current franchisee of the Yorkshire & Lincolnshire Network Six region. It is owned by Cautley Broadcasting Company Ltd, which is now a subsidiary of Vanquish Media. cautleytv is broadcast in standard defintion on all platforms held by Network Six, including Freeview.
Originally known on screen as tvCautley, the station rebranded as cautleytv (always written in lowercase) during the 2008 Christmas season. The diamond device has been retained although the six lines motif was dropped. The rebrand saw a new station font introduced, 'Galette'; the cautleytv logo itself is written in 'Kimberley'. [edit] History
In summer 2007, long serving broadcaster Phoenix Television pulled out of their Network Six operations which included White Rose Television, the then current franchisee of the Yorkshire & Lincolnshire region. In October 2007 a franchise round was held to determine the new franchisee for the region. Five bids were submitted and the subsequent franchise round was closely contested between Regal Media's bid, Cautley Television and Vanquish Media's bid, tvYorkshire. The result was a tie between the two bids, each earning a total of three votes each. It was decided and approved by both the 6CA and Network Control, that Regal Media and Vanquish Media would jointly run the franchise, with each company owning an equal share in the new franchisee. On 1 November, 2007 White Rose disappeared from Yorkshire's television screens and the tvCautley diamond greeted viewers for the first time.
In September 2008, Carte Regal announced a restructure, in which it agreed to sell its 50% stake in Cautley Broadcasting Company Ltd to Vanquish Media, therefore handing full control of tvCautley to Vanquish Media.
The first major announcement since Vanquish Media took full control of the station was the news that tvCautley will be renamed cautleytv in January 2009.
[edit] On Screen Identity
From launch to December 2008, tvCautley's identity was based on the theme of lines. The 'Six Lines' motif complimented tvCautley's geometric styled logo as well as representing the network tvCautley is part of, Network Six. Idents included jet vapour trails and strands of confetti from a football stadium. The idents were designed by Vanquish Media broadcast, now Voila Marketing.
New idents are due to launch in January 2009. The six lines theme will be retired and their replacement idents are expected to focus more on the diamond logo itself.
cautleytv's logo, dubbed the 'cautleytv diamond', is based on former sister station Rowby's rectangle logo.
[edit] Filmscene
Filmscene is the brand used to highlight films on cautleytv. The brand was launched in June 2008 to coincide with the network premiere of the 2005 animated film, Robots. Filmscene has its own distinctive presentation, utilising the six lines motif. The Filmscene idents are also set to be overhauled in January 2009 to match cautleytv's new presentation.
